Summer’s winding down and that bums me out a little. But, I actually look forward to autumn because I love the changing colors in the fall. It also means college football. And tailgating! One other thing about fall I love: that's when our new season of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition begins on ABC. I hope you'll be watching on September 27 when we premiere our seventh season with a very special guest. When I met Victor Marerro, he was a single father trying to keep his five sons away from the drugs andcrime in their New Jersey neighborhood. To keep them safe, he’d keep them inside, renting movies and playing games. That was the inspiration for my special project on this show. I designed a lounge where the family can hang out, relax, and have fun. I called it the lion’s den and it was part of the new home we built for the family in the town of Pensauken, New Jersey. For this dining room, I started with my Costa Del Mar furniture from Sears, but then swapped out paint colors and accessories to create three very different designs. Which one is your favorite? On Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, we do our best to use green building practices when designing and constructing the homes. This includes choosing alternative energy sources, recycled building materials, better insulation, and energy-saving appliances to cut utility costs. Join me for a look at some of our best ideas.
